Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Precision Nursing ("we," "us," "our") uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies") on our website and web app. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. They're widely used to make sites work more efficiently and to provide information to the site owners. We also use related technologies such aslocalStorageandsessionStoragefor similar purposes; for simplicity this policy refers to all of them as "cookies."

2. Your choices

The first time you visit, we ask you to choose one of three options. Nothing optional is stored until you do.

• Deny: only strictly necessary cookies, which sign you in and keep the Service secure. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR these don't need consent, and the Service can't work without them.
• Essential only: strictly necessary plus functional storage that remembers layout preferences, such as a collapsed sidebar.
• Accept all: the above plus analytics cookies. We don't use any analytics cookies today; if we add them, they will only run for visitors who chose this option, and we will list them below first.

We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask again. We also ask again if we add a new category of cookie. You can change your choice at any time: Cookie settings.

We do not use advertising, social-media, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't share browsing data with advertising networks.

3. The full list

On secure (HTTPS) connections cookie names carry a __Secure- prefix.

• better-auth.session_token

  Strictly necessary · Cookie · 7 days, renewed while you use the app

  Keeps you signed in and protects your session (HttpOnly).

• better-auth.oauth_state

  Strictly necessary · Cookie · 10 minutes

  Protects Sign in with Google against forgery. Only set if you use it.

• csrftoken, sessionid

  Strictly necessary · Cookie · 1 year / 2 weeks

  Staff-only admin console sign-in and CSRF protection. Not set for students.

• pn_cookie_consent

  Strictly necessary · Cookie · 12 months, then we ask again

  Remembers your cookie choice (Deny, Essential only, or Accept all).

• precision-nursing.sidebar-collapsed

  Functional · Local storage · Until you clear it

  Remembers whether you collapsed the app sidebar. Only stored if you chose Essential only or Accept all.

• exam-attempt-position:<id>

  Strictly necessary · Local storage · Removed when the exam ends

  Returns you to the question you were on if an exam is interrupted.

• auth-next-after-onboarding

  Strictly necessary · Session storage · When you close the tab

  Sends you back to the page you came from after sign-up.

• verify-email-banner-dismissed, deletion-banner-dismissed

  Strictly necessary · Session storage · When you close the tab

  Remembers that you dismissed an account banner.

4. Third-party sites

No third party sets cookies on our domain. Two flows take you to another company's site, where that company's own cookie policy applies:

• Stripe Checkout: when you pay, you are redirected to checkout.stripe.com, where Stripe uses cookies for fraud prevention. See Stripe's cookie policy.
• Sign in with Google: if you choose it, Google's sign-in page uses its own cookies. See Google's cookie policy.

Our error monitoring (Sentry) does not set cookies or use device storage.

5. Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies from your browser settings, see aboutcookies.org for instructions for each major browser. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies specifically.

If you block strictly-necessary cookies, parts of the Service, including sign-in and checkout, will stop working.

6. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice.
